Peace, my soul
Using identity photos of the passed away relatives from local family archives, this project explores the intersection of conceptual photography and memory transfer in small villages over Serbia. The goal of this project is to give memories a second life. Through conversations and stories shared by the villagers, the author enhances these images to reflect the essence of each person through color and post-production.
By taking the most government-regulated representation of a person and adding an emotional layer, she aims to honor the memories of those who are no longer with us. The conversations Eugenia had with the villagers were heartfelt and personal, without the use of recording devices. Each memory was handwritten and deeply felt, emphasizing the human connection in the interaction. This is an ongoing project that explores the actual situation and past of Serbian villages.
The first stage of a project was exhibited in Gardinovci, Serbia as part of the Vice Versa Triangle Residency.
