The project refers to the nonlinearity of time and post-memory. I often think about how weirdly time shapes disconnect and understanding between different generations just with repeated lessons.
I see how in nowadays context, it emotionally correlated with stories that my grandma told me about her youth, and how she survives. It was not that relevant for me when I heard these stories as a child, I hadn’t had equal experience as she did. Yet somehow I have her grief connected to my feelings and memories of her stories.
Once I saw my son playing on the phone and his pose was so easy yet somehow so true to my memories. At one moment I’ve been looking at my son, feeling lost in my grandmother, and seeing pictures from the history books in my inner vision from Pompeii. It all become one moment for me and that was the point of when I saw this project rising.

My first decision was to get away from my usual medium, photography, and do a more complex, greater project. I start to use raw, unbaked clay to have an option to make this work cycled.
It does no harm, no permanent impact. One day it will stay only in someone’s memory because there is no physical form that will last long enough.

Sculptures show the circle of life, repeating itself in variations. But photography from our family archive, that’s the layer that connects times and makes them melt into one. I love how it’s almost impossible to be objective on such a topic, but even for a subjective point I still have to add different voices.

And last layer I want to clarify is that these sculptures appear in very different places, sometimes out of cultural spots. I love the idea of meeting art in unexpected places, where viewers are not ready to see art. Then viewers have to form their point of view without proper preparation

Late August this project will be represented in a group exhibition in Belgrade, I’ll keep you informed. I see it as a self-developing idea, that would lead to a very interesting experience, but I don’t know where it goes yet. Would love to see it

Thanks! Hope you find these creative shares inspiring)

PS: The name of this project is a sentence I got from a conversation that took place in Berlin in 1930 between Albert Einstein and Rabindranath Tagore. They had a dialogue about truth, beauty, spirituality, and science. I felt like words of Einstein were the best representation and source of valuable thoughts in the early stage of developing my idea.
